ETAP 687 Reflections

What was she thinking?

A teacher, a student, a mother, and more!

Hi! My name is Jessica Backus-Foster and I created this blog as part of my learning experience in my online class, Introduction to Online Teaching, which I am taking through SUNY Albany. This blog is a reflection of my learning experiences in the classroom and specifically addresses issues and concerns I have in the thinking and design phases of my own online class!

In my ’spare’ time, I teach full time as a chef instructor in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management at SUNY Delhi and am a wife to my wonderful husband of four years, Brian, and a mother to three beautiful children: Gideon (almost 6), Eve (3), and Raegan (5 days old!) It hardly seems possible that we are so blessed!

I have nearly completed my Master’s Degree in Curriculum Design and Instructional Technology (with only three classes, including this one, to go!) and I am so excited to be learning about online teaching since that is the next step in my career and in education! Our campus administration is focusing on growth through partnership programs and online courses, so this is a great way to expand our horizons and reach more students in order to make the “Delhi Difference”!

I hope you get as much out of reading this blog as I do in writing it!

Cheers!
